On the way home, I noticed that there is much flooding in our area. We've had a ton of rain, including 163 mm in October.
There was a fire last year. Fire at Rideau Valley Marketplace, near Smiths Falls November, 2016. The fire retardant resulted in environmental pollution, and these homes had to have water trucked in. They draw from the container.

We have a wonderful used bookstore in nearby Pembroke. I love hanging out there. In addition to a great selection of well organized used books, she sells the work of local authors. Yeah, Prince Street Books!
I had not thought about fire retardant causing water supply problems, what a hassle to have a tank at ground level for your water, but a whole lot better than none, or having to drive to a central location. Books to take, will this be a long holiday?
That's a lot of rain in a short period of time. After a rapid rise of our lake level after October storms we are back down over a foot, all thanks to power generation at the dam. We expect a few days of rain this week. Hope that brings us backup. - Margy
We could benefit from a couple of weeks of dry weather.
That's too much water for comfort.
It's sad when bookstores/record stores close down. It marks the end of an era. People have internet at home.
In my neck of the woods, people tend to read less than, let's say in Canada.The weather is nice most of the year, so people are out and about; the outdoors is calling them to explore nature, both rural and urbanistic.
It's been quite wet year. However, it looks as though most of the next two weeks will be pretty dry.
Sorry to read about the flooding (in this post and the one a ways above); and also sorry (but not surprised) about the book store needing to close. It is that way everywhere these days. I like the convenience of my kindle, so know I'm contributing to the problem.
It's so sad when bookshops close down, I love visiting them and choosing a book.
