Drugging and driving

Many of us have fought long and hard for the right to use medical marijuana (MM). I've had several clients; with catheters or colonoscopy bags (or both), some with unmitigated pain, who would benefit from certain strains of MM. One client, whom I escorted to the pain clinic in Ottawa, unable to afford it she was told to find a kid in her neighbourbood from whom to buy some.

This has been the whole argument around MM.

Then there are the 20-somethings. Little remorse for drugged driving, at least amongst Facebook buddies.

To refrain from putting MM on the pharmaceuticals listings with the argument that it is a social drug and and not a serious pain reliever I think stinks. It does much less harm to the patient than many of the 'legal' and authorised drugs, which have so many side effects.

The counter argument is also spurious; as many folk get 'out of it' on PRESCRIPTION drugs, obtained by nefarious means, so gunja would be far from alone in that regard.

Attend to obvious medical benefits. Let the criminals and dodgers be dealt with as that. Know that the cross-over is on all drugs which provide any kind of zing and market forces will ensure the continuation of wrongful use - which most definitely should not prevent the availability for genuine need.

Oh no... There is that problem with legalizing marijuana too. Winter driving can be scary.
