Such is life; we climb, we fall

If we didn't have an opportunity to fail, we would not know what it was like to succeed.

If all the trees in the world were horizontal, it'd be easy climbing.

We might find a sibling there, but that doesn't mean we must follow their path.
The important thing is to give ourselves permission to climb again.
Sure, we risk falling.
But this makes our mind and our muscles stronger.

Each day we can forgive ourselves for our failures and our mistakes, and rise up above those people or things that seek to bring us down.

Buster loves THIS tree, it fell in a storm
The next day, we might find another easy climb. Take advantage of this.

Look for the opportunities within.

This happened to be a mouse hole, but you get my meaning.
It is fair, to ask for some company along the way. S/he may not be interested in the same things that interest you. In that case, you can at least share the journey.

Felix leads him off into the bushy tree top.
Then s/he might lead YOU in another direction.

Or the universe tells you to take it easy.
Be careful.

This is what happens.
The universe sends you who you need at the time. Listen to her message.

There is a time to lead and a time to follow.
a time to rest in the sun!
Buster on the bench, Felix beneath.
Sometimes it is time to rest.

Sometimes the Universe watches you like a hawk.
Listen to her.

Think of the inventors.
He might have come up with 50 ideas, and only 1 worked!

Dr. James Naismith was the Canadian physical education instructor who invented basketball in 1891. Here he is in Almonte, Ontario.

He watches, while someone invents a new balcony.

The important thing is to focus on your successes, not your failures. Too often I remember the parent of my student who thought I'd done their child wrong. I'd forgotten the wonderful thanks, the letters and the joy most days.

I totally agree. Focus on the successes, keep trying -- and try to bring a friend!

Parents were pretty good when I was a teacher. But when I became a principal, they were a whole different kind of person. - Margy

Yep, it's all too human a thing, I fear, to focus on our failures. It's much healthier to think about our successes.

Like the metaphor you use here to tell people that it is okay to make mistakes and learn from them. You know that a little patience with people pays off when they learn a lesson from experience. Your cats posed very well for you!!!

Love the illustrations for these universal truths! (I think you should make this post into a booklet for your granddaughters!)....

And every good teacher upsets at least a few parents. (Too many people don't want to admit their kids aren't perfect.)
