Ontario Winter Games - Bala RIngette

Bala was just hopping today!

They are having so much fun! I've never even SEEN a ringette game. Seriously!

Not that I'm not into sports, we often skated on the canal when we lived in Ottawa, I played volleyball -indoors and out, and I played softball.
My daughter, at the ripe old age of 30, has played in adult soccer leagues, keeping herself active.

This team was warming up in the Community Centre parking lot. Such a wonderful day to be outdoors, they took advantage of it.

It is a grinding schedule, even for young women. These 4 were taking a deserved break! The tunes were making toes tap.
All the parents, coaches, volunteers, and friends and families were having a grand time. It takes a whole community to make this type of event a success. We talked to folks from far and wide: Sudbury and Bracebridge.

Lots of Muskokans have hosted, helped, volunteered or broadcast these games.
A great time was had by most! Our walk through town was kept interesting by the sights of the Moon River, Bala Falls,  sledders stuck in a town without snow,

I remember going to ringette games with my daughter. As an aside, I live the pileated woodpecker photo at the end of the post.

Jenn,
Bala is a wonderful town. Thanks to the town, Muskoka Ringette and the Bala for your support. It was great that busloads of kids came to the arena to watch ringette on Friday.

Great photos. We'd like to post this photo in our web album (with credit to you, of course!)

Thanks again,
Northwest United Team

Lucky you Jenn, as I was aimlessly watching nothing of consequence on television last night I realized how much I missed the extraordinary sports of the Olympics! I am going to have to find a local arena and go watch hockey. Hasn't the weather been wonderful, still a little chilly but the sunshine is wonderful. Have a great week. Your photos are wonderful.

Hi Jenn!
I'm working at Travelodge in Bracebridge, and our hotel was crammed full of Winter Games families. It was great to meet them and hear about their kids sporting activities, for sure- albeit a bit chaotic, that is... ;)
Also- we have deer in our yard ALL the time (maybe the apples I put out lure them in, haha). And we're smack dab in town, by WalMart. We have also seen a few bears, blue jays, a woodpecker, an I take great joy (as you know) from the nutty, zany squirrels that frequent our yard!
I haven't had much time to put anything on my blog- working 2 jobs, 6 days a week will do that, I suppose... and my laptop died, and.... on and on! I am trying to NOT buy a new laptop- I cut my internet- all in the name of trying to SIMPLIFY life. And, well, because I can check email and such at work... ;)

Anyways, great post, and great pix- I really need to start USING my digital cam for something other than pix of my kids.... LOL

I volunteered on the Nordic Ski portion of the Games here at Arrowhead. I'd hoped to get a chance to see the Girls' Hockey in Baysville, or the Figure Skating in Huntsville, but it didn't work out. Glad to hear the place was hopping! We at Bondi Village are, sadly, not close enough to the venues to have picked up any of the athletes or families, but I'm glad some of the motels did! Kudos to the Events Tourism/Chamber of Commerce for getting this organized!
